A RYA Yachtmaster™ Certificate of Competence is a well-known, most respected qualification worldwide, proving your experience and competence as a skipper . It is often the ultimate aim of aspiring yacht skippers.

Course intended for | Persons who wants to get the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster coastal motor or Yachtmaster Offshore motor certificate of competence . |
Pre-course knowledge |
The candidate must come to the course with theory knowledge in depth about navigation, charts, rules about the international prevention of collision at sea, weather, safety, buoyage, passage planning, tidal stream and height calculation, pilotage, radar, use and limitation of electronic navigation etc..

We expect you to arrive fully prepared in your practical sailing ability such as manoeuvring in close quarter, man over board, anchoring, docking with one engine, blind navigation, execution of a passage plan day and night etc ..
The pass rate for candidates who did the RYA coastal skipper practical course prior to the exam is 90%. |
Pre -exam experience (compulsary) |
In order to be eligible for the "RYA Yachtmaster coastal" exam the candidates must have minimum:
30 days seatime on a motoryacht, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles, 12 night hours (if you hold the Coastal Skipper course certificate this is reduced to 20 days, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours). Half the qualifying sea time must be conducted in tidal waters. In order to be eligible for the "RYA Yachtmaster Offshore" exam the candidates must have minimum: 50 days seatime on a motoryacht , 2,500 miles including at least 5 passages over 60 miles measured along the rhumb line from the port of departure to the destination, acting as skipper for at least two of these passages and including two which have involved overnight passages. 5 days experience as skipper. At least half this mileage and passages must be in tidal waters. All qualifying sea time must be within 10 years prior to the exam in a cruising motorboat between 7m and 24m |

Course content |
During this course , one of our senior instructors will test your theory knowledge and practical skills in order to expose your weak points and correct them before the final exam .
The Yachtmaster exam preparation is in fact not a real course , but a general refresher and fine tuning. |
